Books

I LOVE books. If I am completely honest with myself, it is sometimes to the detriment of my children. I squeeze in a moment of reading any time I can. If I am in the middle of a really great book, that might mean a movie for the kids. There you go, I said it. OK, don't freak out on me!! My kids are in no way overloaded with electronic stimuli...we don't even get tv reception for crying out loud. Which brings me to my next point...a REALLY good book.

I have very few books on my "must read" list. While there are a ton of books that I enjoy...REALLY enjoy, my "must read" list is reserved for those extraordinary books that I think everyone would benefit from reading. On goodreads they are the only books given 5 stars. Well, I just finished such a book.

You should ALL get your hands on Papa Married a Mormon. It is especially great for all of those dogmatic Mormons (which, let's face it, there are a LOT of) and any other religious zealots. It is a beautiful, biographical story of one family's experience of a Catholic father and Mormon mother. It tells the tale of how profoundly this family loved and respected all people, and how they were loved and respected in return. It is also a wild west story with plenty of adventure that I'm sure my kids will enjoy when I read it to them. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, and will continue to.
